Project Description

This is "The Multimedia Signal Processing and Security Lab", short WaveLab, website. We are a research group at the Artificial Intelligence and Human Interfaces (AIHI) Department of the University of Salzburg led by Andreas Uhl. Our research is focused on Visual Data Processing and associated security questions. Most of our work is currently concentrated on Biometrics, Media Forensics and Media Security, Medical Image and Video Analysis, and application oriented fundamental research in digital humanities, individualised aquaculture and sustainable wood industry.

Sample Data Compression and Encryption in Biometric Systems (BioComp)

Project Description:

BioComp (FWF TRP project L554) is a project on how to store and handle sample data in biometric systems where these data have been acquired in the form of visual data (e.g. fingerprints, iris and retina scans, face recognition, .....). Specific emphasis is given to efficient lossy compression techniques based on JPEG and JPEG2000 with low impact on recognition performance and to lightweight encryption schemes allowing for search in encrypted biometric datasets in order to protect the privacy of the enrolled users.
