| Computer-assisted evaluation of endoscopic pictures of the duodenal mucosa of children with positive celiac serology (EndoCeliac)

Project Description:
EndoCeliac (Austrian National Bank Jubiläumsfonds project no. 12991 by the St. Anna Children's Hospital Vienna) is a joint project with Andreas Vecsei from the St. Anna Children's Hospital in Vienna. The aim of the project
is to develop a computer-based decision support system for an automated diagnosis of celiac disease based on endoscopic colon imagery.
Staging is done according to
the Marsh calssification scheme. Images are acquired at the St. Anna Children's Hospital in Vienna and are transfered to Salzburg in
anonymous fashion. The histological classification is available as ground truth. The Salzburg branch is developing custom classification
techniques based on various features extracted from the spatial, Fourier-type, and Wavelet-type domains where the aim is to achieve at least equivalent classification results as compared
to the histological findings.
